The U.S.-Georgia Cooperation for Partnership in Science Presents Regional Training Workshops
on NIH Grant Application Process and Procedures & Scientific Manuscript Writing

Tbilisi, Georgia

May 1-5, 2017

Overview:

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in collaboration with the Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center (IDACIRC a.k.a. National AIDS Center), Tbilisi, Georgia, will convene two scientific training workshops from May 1-5, 2017. The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), Kazakhstan, will be a co-sponsor.

Focus:

The focus of these training workshops will be on enhancing skills in preparing grant applications for biomedical research and for writing technical manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.

Objectives:

The objectives of these training workshops are two-fold:

a) to share information regarding grant application process and funding policies from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), including tips and lessons from successful applicants to NIH and other funding organizations

b) to discuss critical elements of a scientific research paper through didactic lectures

c) to develop skills in drafting a research manuscript through hands-on activities

Participants:

These Regional Workshops aim to engage investigators and institutions from Georgia, neighboring Eurasian countries, and the United States. Ideal participants would include advanced researchers from public and private academic biomedical research institutions.
