According to experts’ evaluation laboratory service of Infectious Disease, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center is one of the best in the Eastern European countries. The laboratory service is equipped with the cutting edge high tech equipment. Almost all laboratory staff has been trained in the leading institutions of the US and Europe.

Work of the center’s laboratory is based on international standards which warrants high quality and reliability of testing. The laboratory service received ISO 9001:2008 certifi cate and the National Quality Award.

The laboratory service successfully participates in an external quality control program organized by the Australian National Reference Laboratory, which is designated as the WHO Collaborating Center for Diagnostics and Laboratory Support for HIV/AIDS and other blood-borne infections. The annual score in this program is higher than 99% annually.

The laboratory service is responsible for carrying out the most important healthcare programs in the country, which also confi rms high quality and reliability of its work.

Many of the cutting edge diagnostic methods implemented in the Center are unique not only for Georgia, but for the entire Eastern European Region.

The laboratory service is equipped with genetic analyzers - DNA sequencers. HIV genotypic drug resistance testing, HIV tropism test, identifi cation of HCV recombinant forms, etc. are available. These tests are unique for Southern Caucasus and are available only in a few institutions in Eastern European Region.

The best real time PCR systems are available for identifi cation and quantification of RNA/DNA - the most reliable method for diagnosis of viral and other infections.
